For the last few months I've been working on a couple of exhibitions that I'm happy to say are now up!
The first is "Swaddling", a site specific installation for the Terrain Biennial 2021. The installation is located in the East LA neighborhood of Atwater at 4223 Brunswick Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90039. The piece is up from October 2 - November 15. During the exhibit I will continue to stitch the blanket . It will also transform with the help of the sun, rain and wind.
There is a wonderful companion installation in the East LA neighborhood of Eagle Rock. It's a weaving created by Barbara Hashimoto. Barbara's work is at 1631 Fair Park Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90041. Barbara and I have partnered on various projects over the past 20 years. It's a pleasure to bring our neighborhoods together through this exhibition. More about the installation, Terrain, and The Eagle Rock Atwater connection please go to Terrain Biennial 2021.
The second exhibit is taking place at Red Chair Studios in St. Louis, Missouri. I met two wonderful women in a workshop in 2020, Con Christeson / St. Louis, Missouri in the US and Siân Barlow / West Wales in the UK. Siân and I have kept in touch through weekly chats. Con has been kind enough to offer the windows of Red Chair Studios to bring our work together. Siân sent seven tiny books and I sent seven small bound sculptures to Con for installation. I'm excited to be a part of this with both of them. More information can be found on the earth + sky exhibit website and on earth + sky in the exhibition section of my site.
